Florida: Week 1... And 2!

December 30, 2014

Hello! Apologies for not blogging last week, I've been on holiday in Florida. I was going to do a week 1 blog post last week and a week 2 one this week but I just never got to it, to here's a combination of the two!

So I've been here for almost 2 weeks now which means it's nearly time to go home, the holiday's gone really fast and it sucks to be going home, but I'm really looking forward to getting back and sleeping in my own bed again - that'll be nice!
So on the day we got here, we arrived to Orlando International Airport at around 5pm which meant we didn't clear security and get our car until about 7pm. After we'd done this we headed to our accommodation and, immediately after getting there, we went across the road to our favourite restaurant in Orlando - Millers Ale House. It's a sports bar but it does really good food and it's amazingly cheap! I had the Chicken Parmesan pasta which was amazing; it's basically a slice of chicken surrounded by spaghetti which is covered in tomato purée and Parmesan cheese. Alongside the fish and chips, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who goes there. It was about 8:30pm after we were done in there so we went next door to Pointe Orlando and had a look around some of the shops, I bought a stripey T-shirt from Tommy Hilfigers! After this, we headed back and went to get some sleep, ready for a magical day at Disney!
We woke up super early the next few days because we were still in English time, but we soon got over that. On the first day, we went to Disney's Magic Kingdom which was very fun. It hadn't changed much since we last went there, in 2011, but it was still great! The next day, however, was amazing! We went to SeaWorld, which is celebrating it's 50th anniversary by giving away free things to guests standing in the right place and the right time. Fortunately, we were standing in the right place at the right time and were approached by a strangely energetic lady wearing a shell suit who gave us an envelope which enclosed tickets for a VIP tour of the park, quick queue wristbands and all day dining wristbands! We also were given two teddies - a turtle and a penguin!
Our VIP tour began at 11am and was conducted by Stephanie DeWitt, one of the cast members at SeaWorld. She took myself, my mum, my dad and two other guests around to different behind the scenes areas of the park and also took us to all the great shows at SeaWorld. First, we went to the Pets Ahoy! show which is amazing - definitely one of my favourite shows. After this, we got to feed and pet the dolphins which was great - Dolphins are so soft! Following this, we were then given the privilege of travelling into the animal hospitality section in the behind the scenes area of the park in which animals are treated for any illnesses or issues (this was not part of the tour, this was an added extra). We saw the machinery and vehicles used to transport animals as well which was very interesting.
Next, we saw the Shamu show which is one of SeaWorld's most famous shows. As always, it was amazing! Following this, we got to make use of our all day dining passes and headed to the barbecue restaurant and had lunch. The food at SeaWorld is amazing! After this, we got to go to the shark encounter and learn all about the sharks, we even got to stroke a baby shark which felt very strange. We then went on to feed the sea lions, it was extremely funny seeing what they will do to get food! After this, we fed the stingrays. It was really weird feeding them as they're like hoovers! You hold a fish between your fingers and they float over your finger and then just suck it up. It hilarious! This concluded our 6 hour tour, so we had just enough time to make use of our quick queue wristbands on Manta and Kraken - two of my favourite roller coasters. We also got to ride the ride at the new penguin enounter which is amazing. The Penguins are no longer stuck behind a think piece of glass, you are now in the same room as them and get to be closer than ever! Overall, this was my favourite day of the whole trip.
The next few days, we went to Aquatica, Blizzard Beach, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and on Christmas we went to Epcot! Epcot is one of my favourite parks, my favourite feature is the around the world section in which you walk around the massive lake, travelling between sections themes like different countries. My favourite sections are Canada and China - two places I definitely want to travel to after visiting these exhibits.
We also went to a shopping mall close to where we are staying and I spent all of my remaining money there (after spending some on a Tommy Hilfiger shirt and a Perry the Platypus shirt!). At the mall, I bought two pairs of Levi 501 jeans and 2 polo shirts and jumper from Ralph Lauren. Also, at Epcot, I bought a Corvette racing T-shirt from the Test Track gift shop!

We also went on a helicopter ride which was super fun, I have a video of it up on my youtube channel.
Overall, this has been a great holiday and I can't wait for the next one!
